Shaan Hurley has been working for almost two years to create the perfect gift for one of his favorite National Parks – a 3D Print of the Delicate Arch, found at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah. This iconic arch is well known and you see it on most Utah State license plates. Shaan laser scanned it with a Faro Focus and then did the work to create a printable 3D model. He gifted it to the Arches National Park when the 3DRV rolled into Moab. We were glad to be a small part of it.

If you read Shaan’s blog, Between The Lines, you know that he is passionate about all things Autodesk, but more so, for anything outdoors as well as a staunch supporter of our wonderful national parks. Shaan drove down from Salt Lake City to guide us around the one of the coolest places on earth: Moab, Utah. The canyons, the petroglyphs, the dinosaur bones, hiking, biking, and just about everything he could pack in for us, in one short day, including a hike up to the wonderful Delicate Arch, to see it firsthand. What a wonderful day talking about nature and 3D. The two go together well.

Here’s a short video of Shaan presenting his gift, well-received and appreciated by the Arches NP rangers and staff.
