Los Angeles, CA3D Print A Holiday Ornament With Tinkercad At Shapeways
Savannah Peterson over at Shapeways just created a crafty, fun maker-type template in Tinkercad that makes creating a custom holiday ornament easy! Give it a try, and if you model one, upload it to Shapeways by December 5 you will get in time for the holiday. Tag it with #3DRV, too, so she knows we’re related… ;-)
Depending on the size ornament, you can expect to spend between $10 and $25 for a customized ornament. You don’t have to use the template, but you might want to give it a try. Or, start with a blank page – Tinkercad is super easy to use. We’ve used it a few times to quickly create something we want to print for one of our 3DRV stops, a custom sample, if you will.
At first glance, Tinkercad seems to be aimed at only hobbyists, but we’ve met professional engineers on our journey who are using it as their 3D design tool over more complex programs. So, don’t be fooled, Tinkercad is one powerful program.
And thanks to Shapeways, for reminding us that 3D printing doesn’t have to be difficult, either.
